Decree of 15 January 1998 modifying the decree of
7 February 1996 relating to the methods of evaluation of the state of
conservation of flockings and heat insulations containing of asbestos
and to measurements of dust contamination in the built buildings

The Minister for employment and solidarity, the Minister for the equipment, of transport and housing, the Minister for the environment and regional planning, the Secretary of State to health and the Secretary of State to housing,
Considering the decree No 96-97 of 7 February 1996, modified by the decree No 97-855 of 12 September 1997, relating to the protection of the population against the medical risks related to an exposure to asbestos in the built buildings, and in particular its articles 3, 4 and 5;
Considering the decree of 7 February 1996 relating to the methods of evaluation of the state of conservation of flockings and heat insulations containing of asbestos and to measurements of dust contamination in the built buildings;
Considering the opinion of the higher Council of public health of France on September 17, 1997,
Stop:
Article 1st. - the last subparagraph of the article 1st of the decree of 7 February 1996 referred to above is supplemented by the following provisions:
"the fraction of fibres to be taken into account for counting is that which corresponds to the totality of asbestos fibres of which the length is greater than 5 microns, whose width is lower than 3 microns and whose length report/ratio over width is greater than 3."
Art. 2. - the general manager of
health, the director of the relations of work, the director of the
habitat and construction and the director of the prevention of
pollution and the risks are charged, each one in what relates to it,
of the execution of this decree, which will be published with the
Journal officiel de la République française.
